EUFAULA — Berry Joe Williamson will remain in Oklahoma Juvenile Authority custody for at least six more months, District Judge Thomas Bartheld ruled Friday.

Williamson was convicted as a youthful offender of first-degree murder for the shooting death of Rodger Stockton, 65, on May 24, 2004.

Williamson is now in at the Cedar Canyon Adventure Program near Weatherford and working in a pizza restaurant in that area, said Assistant District Attorney Greg Stidham.

He could be released to a less secure facility if he completes the program at Weatherford, said Mitch Parker of the Oklahoma Juvenile Authority.

He will appear for another hearing at 9 a.m. June 4, when Bartheld will review again whether he should be released from the system. Under state law, he cannot be held beyond his 20th birthday, which is Dec. 9, 2009, Stidham said.
