Wagoner coach arrested for DUI

Wagoner boys basketball coach Shedrick E. Jones was arrested at 32nd Street and Harris Road at 2:35 a.m. Sunday for misdemeanor DUI, records show.

That information was on a Muskogee Police report released Monday.

Jones did not return calls Monday.

Jones, 39, was released from the Muskogee County/City Detention Facility at 10:20 a.m. Sunday after paying a fine of $829, according to the jail booking officer. It was Jones’ first offense, records show.

The payment of the fine is the final absolution of the case, the booking officer said.

Jones, an Oklahoma Baptist University graduate, was a coach for 10 years before taking the Wagoner job earlier this year. He was coach three years at Checotah and seven years before that at Boynton-Moton.

He led the Boynton-Moton Cardinals to a 29-3 record and the Class B State Championship in 2000. Boynton was the state runner-up four times under Jones, who was Ken Trickey’s assistant at Muskogee High School in 2003-04.

Jones replaced Joe Gordon as coach of the Wagoner Bulldogs. Gordon resigned in early May to become the assistant director at the Indian Capital Technology Center in Muskogee.
