Two area students received first and second place awards in a recent poster contest sponsored by the Muskogee County Conservation District who sponsored the local division of the Oklahoma Association of Conservation Districts poster contest.
Taron Mills of Haskell Elementary earned first place in the contest, and Joanna Van Brunt of Midway Elementary placed second.
The theme for the 2008 contest was "Water Is Life." Several Muskogee County schools participated in the fifth-grade division.
Awards were sponsored by Armstrong Bank. Both contestants will proceed to the area contest in November.
