Teen’s alleged threats result in lockdown

Sallisaw Central School in Sequoyah County was locked down for about an hour shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday, Sequoyah County Undersheriff Roy Coleman said.

Deputies were called about a possible threat against a female student by a 15-year-old boy from LeFlore County who had been her boyfriend, Coleman said.

“He went to the girl’s home yesterday (Wednesday), pulled his jacket back, but she didn’t see a weapon,” Coleman said. “This morning, he texted this girl’s friend, saying, “You tell her I’m on my way.”

Deputies Greg Cox and Greg Peters were at the scene when the boy in question drove by and turned around in the school’s north parking lot, deputies said. They stopped him, detained him and interviewed him before contacting juvenile authorities.

The boy was released to his parents, Coleman said, and is to meet with juvenile authorities today.

“There were no weapons on him or in his vehicle,” Coleman said.
