Fort Gibson Intermediate Elementary student Ashlyn Frix, vocal student of music teacher Shirley Flaska, has been named to the 2009 Children's All State Choir. Ashlyn is the daughter of Shane and Amy Frix.
Ashlyn auditioned and was selected to be a member of the Region E Circle the State with Song choir. Becoming a member of this regional choir allowed Ashlyn to audition for the All State Choir. There were 144 foruth through eighth grade students across the state selected for this choir.
Ashyln is one of 24 students from Fort Gibson Intermediate Elementary who will perform with the regional “Circle the State with Song” choir Jan. 7, at the Tahlequah High School Performing Arts Center.
Ashyln and her mother, along with Flaska, will attend the Oklahoma Music Educators Association State Conference in Tulsa in January. Ashlyn will be performing with the 2009 Children's All State Choir at the Williams Center Performing Arts Center during the State Convention's general session on Jan. 29.
This is Ashlyn's third year to study with Flaska in the Fort Gibson School's music program.
