A car belonging to a missing 17-year-old Gore student has been found burned, said Muskogee County Sheriff’s Investigator Coletta Peyton.
The last time Jenny Lynn Spradling was seen by her father and stepmother was Sept. 12, Peyton said.
The vehicle Jenny was driving, a white, 1992 Oldsmobile Achieva, was found by deputies Tuesday or Wednesday night about a mile and a half south of her residence in a very wooded area known as Riverbend Acres, Peyton said.
The area is so wooded that Peyton said she had to walk the last little bit Friday to reach the burned-out car.
“We got confirmation two boys had seen the car there during the first part of October but didn’t tell anybody,” Peyton said.
Peyton said the car being found burned is not a good sign.
“That doesn’t seem to be anything my daughter would have done with her car,” said Jenny’s father, Curtis Spradling. “I just hope she’s safe and OK. I just don’t know what to think. I hope there’s no foul play involved.”
The Olds Achieva she was driving was a four-door with penguin mats and steering wheel cover. It had black dice hanging from the mirror.
The day Jenny disappeared, she went to where she worked at a convenience store in Braggs to pick up her paycheck, Peyton said. Jenny returned to the family residence at the corner of Oklahoma 10 and Oklahoma 10 A and told her father she learned her work hours were being cut.
Her father told her to go to Gore and apply for a job, Peyton said. Jenny drove to Gambino’s Pizza in Gore to pick up an application. After returning home and filling out the application, she returned it, Peyton said.
That was the last time her father saw her, Peyton said. Three of her friends at Gore High School told Peyton they know she is “all right” but denied seeing her or talking to her, Peyton said Friday. They refused to say anything more, Peyton said.
“I do believe she has run away from home,” Peyton said. “Some friends say she went to Florida or California, and others say she’s in the Oklahoma City area.”
Jenny left her purse at home and took none of her clothing when she left home, Peyton said. She did have her driver’s license with her.
