Three Rivers Health Center in Muskogee was one of several the Cherokee Nation’s health centers receiving performance awards from the United States Government as part of the Government Performance Records Act.
The Muskogee center received the Best Goal Outcome Awards for pap smears, mammography and children ages 2-5 with a body mass index (BMI) of less than 95 percent.
Several of the tribe’s centers earned a total of 13 awards. Other centers honored included ones at Jay, Vinita and Salina.
“We have a great staff of health care professionals working in our health centers and as part of our health services team,” said Chad Smith, Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation. “We have set many goals to improve the health of our communities, and it is great our team has been recognized for achieving those goals.
The Government Performance Records Act provides clinical measures that monitor patient outcomes. The Nation’s Health Services Group runs reports quarterly and turns them in to adjust, improve and monitor clinical performance. The awards give recognition for health organizations that meet their performance goals.
