Muskogee police and sheriff’s deputies were called to Muskogee High School during the pep assembly and Homecoming activities Thursday morning when a large number of people began fighting.
As the football coach was making announcements, a freshman student jumped or fell into the bleachers below, starting a fight in the junior bleachers. About the same time, another fight began in the upper level of the sophomore bleachers and another in the senior bleachers.
Teachers rushed in to try and break up the altercations.
The fire department also was called when fire alarms were set off. No fires occurred.
The assembly was cut short and students were sent back to class.
It is unknown if there are any injuries.
A number of students have been arrested, said Sheriff Charles Pearson.
