Muskogee firefighters approved the terms of a contract ratified earlier this month by the City Council.
International Association of Fire Fighters Local 57 members tallied the ballots Wednesday. IAFF Local 57 President Bryan Fuller said he expects he will meet with city officials next week for final approval.
The contract includes a 2 percent increase in total monthly salary and 2 percent increase in longevity pay and allows union members to some grievances heard by an arbitrator.
Other provisions include:
• Changes in the procedures used for promotions and an outside review of the tests required for those seeking a promotion.
• Changes in life insurance benefits that will pay beneficiaries for any death that occurs while a firefighter is engaged in his or her duties.
• The establishment of a review committee to update job descriptions.
• Rules specifying different times when training can be done.
