WAGONER — Jurors are expected today to begin deliberating the fate of Tulsa man convicted earlier this month of killing his 15-year-old stepdaughter.
Jurors spent all day Monday listening to testimony presented during the penalty phase of Oscar Patterson III’s trial, which began Aug. 25 and ended Sept. 5 with a guilty verdict.
Prosecutors say Patterson, whose Tulsa County conviction in 2000 was overturned two years later by the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals, raped or threatened to rape Tiffiany Beverly and then beat her in the head with a tire iron to keep her from reporting the sexual abuse.
Patterson is serving four 25-year sentences for that abuse.
