During its regular meeting Tuesday, the Muskogee Board of Education:
• Heard that renovations to Indian Bowl Stadium should be ready by Friday’s football home game.
• Heard that the renovations to media centers at Irving and Tony Goetz Elementary Schools, plus a Muskogee High School science lab, should be completed by early next week.
• Heard that the choir and band room addition at 7th and 8th Grade Center might not be completed by planned date of Sept. 22.
• Approved technology policy.
• Voted on estimate of needs for fiscal year 2009: $42.4 million for general fund; $1.4 million for building fund and $3.8 million for child nutrition fund.
• Approved $104,854 bid from Rockey Electric for electrical upgrades.
• Approved $134,650 bid from FRC for improvements to Indian Bowl Stadium.
• Approved $1,229,210 bid from Standard Roofing for roofing restoration project for seven schools and Professional Development Center.
• Approved a contract with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services for two social workers to work at elementary schools.
• Voted on hiring Rita Nidifer as a part time math instructional coach, districtwide.
• Voted on hiring Bill Hearn as a part-time music instructional coach, districtwide.
• Voted on hiring John Tyler Hammons as a C.L.E.A.R. Project student mentor, contingent on funding.
• Voted on hiring David Walkingstick and Sheril Morgan as prevention specialists for C.L.E.A.R. Project.
