The Checotah Indian Community, a 300-member non-profit, will hold an election for its oversight board Saturday.
The candidates are: chairman, Charles Skaggs and Wilson Bear; treasurer, Mary Kaulay and Tim Newton; assistant secretary, David Jackson, Max Bear and Patricia Longcrier; and reporter, Sue Henson and Twylla Kindell.
The community started through the Muscogee (Creek) Nation and receives funds through a smoke shop and casino. The funds are then donated to the Shriners, Jesus Helping Hands and school scholarships.
