TAHLEQUAH — The section of Grand Avenue between Goingsnake and the University Center on the campus of Northeastern State University will close at 3 p.m. Friday to prepare for a special Centennial Countdown tribute to Carrie Underwood, featuring NSU Downtown Country.
Downtown Country will perform at 6 p.m. on Beta Field, followed by a special presentation to Underwood by Dr. Don Betz, NSU president. Underwood, a 2006 NSU graduate, spent two summers performing with Downtown Country before being named the 2005 “American Idol.”
Shuttle service from Doc Wadley Stadium to Beta Field starts at 5 p.m. The university parking lot, located across from the Jack Dobbins Field House, will close at noon, and signs will direct visitors to handicap and other event parking areas.
