A defense fund has been established for a Braggs soldier charged with murdering an Iraqi detainee.
Staff Sgt. Hal M. “Mitch” Warner, 34, is a member of the 101st Airborne Division’s 3rd Brigade Combat Team.
Warner was charged July 13 with premeditated murder in the fatal shooting of Ali Monsour Mohammed. In addition, he is accused of assault, making a false official statement, obstruction of justice and with being an accessory after the fact.
Linda Bennett, Warner’s aunt, said an account under the name Warner Defense Fund has been established at Armstrong Bank, 1111 W. Broadway, Muskogee, OK 74401.
“We are working on a Web site that will soon be up where anyone that wishes to donate can just click on PayPal and donate with their credit/debit card,” Bennett said.
The Web site will be at www.warnerdefensefund.com.
