Farmers Insurance Agent Juanita Blair is presenting educational programs to 15 area schools to teach students about civics and history, courtesy of Farmers Insurance.
In addition, Blair is providing school supplies for thousands of Muskogee children.
“All of us at Farmers are deeply committed to the communities in which we live and work,” Blair said. “This is our way of giving Muskogee children the best start possible to their school year.”
Blair organized a community-wide school supply drive and will donate the back-to-school must haves on from 11 a.m.to 2 p.m. Saturday at 108 East Peak Boulevard. At the event, Farmers will also give a $500 grant to one school.
Each teacher who comes to the event can put his or her name in a drawing, and the winner will be announced on the radio at 2 p.m. to close the event.
In addition, Farmers Insurance is donating classroom lesson plans and DVDs free of charge to 15 schools, featuring Farmers’ award-winning “The American Promise and Liberty’s Apprentice,” Farmers newest documentary.
“The American Promise is a nationally recognized civics study guide for K through 12 school students. For more than 10 years, Farmers Insurance has provided The American Promise program to schools nationwide. Originally aired on public television, The American Promise is a story about America and the people who make it work. The lesson plans were developed, and are endorsed by, the National Council for the Social Studies.
