Green Country Behavioral Health management has closed the agency’s Crisis Stabilization Unit for children. The decision came after months of preparing the unit on West Okmulgee Avenue to meet program standards and then 18 months of operation. GCBHS Chief Executive Officer Dean A. Williams said the unit was created based upon an expressed need in the community. However, utilization fell short.
Williams said Green Country is still committed to providing children’s services and that the agency will expand other children’s programs. He said the plan is to maintain as many of the Crisis Unit staff as possible and utilize the staff, facility, and funding to expand services in the community.
The facility may be used to expand the agency’s Adult Crisis Stabilization Unit. The Crisis Stabilization Unit for adults is available to the community as a free service, with funding provided by the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. Information: 682-8407.
