Former Muskogee Police Crime Scene Investigator Kris Ledford was charged Tuesday with two felonies in Cherokee County.
The charges are different than two earlier felonies filed in Muskogee County but involve the same items — a gun and a bulletproof vest — Ledford is accused from taking from the Muskogee Police Department, said Ledford’s attorney, Chad Richardson.
Ledford will surrender himself and post bond before next Tuesday, Richardson said.
“This is piling on — and I’ve only seen one other such case in 18 years,” Richardson said.
Ledford is charged with embezzlement from the police evidence on the gun in Muskogee County, he said. The Cherokee County charge is false declaration of ownership in connection with the gun being pawned.
The charge on the vest in Muskogee County is embezzlement and in Cherokee County as knowingly concealing stolen property, Richardson said.
