A Muskogee police officer accused of asking a subordinate to withhold information from department administrators was reinstated to his former rank.
A Merit System Board hearing for Sgt. Ron Yates’ appeal of the adverse employment decision set next week was canceled after the settlement was announced.
John Wright, a Beggs lawyer who was representing Yates in the employment matter, said Yates was reinstated Wednesday.
“In the interest of both parties, this matter was settled,” Wright said. “Mr. Yates will resume his role as sergeant for the force.”
