The Cherokee Nation will host a Certified Lactation Counselor’s Training from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. July 7 to July 11 at the Cherokee Casino Resort in Catoosa.
The training program is being sponsored by the Cherokee Nation Women, Infants and Children Program.
According to Brenda Carter, director of the Cherokee Nation WIC program, the goal of the training opportunity is to provide health care professionals evidence-based breastfeeding information, increase their breastfeeding knowledge so that professionals may help to support and assist mothers in breastfeeding and reiterate with health care providers the importance of follow-up care for successful breastfeeding.
