Roger Posey of Muskogee is one of several Green Country Red Cross volunteers being deployed to help in areas of Iowa stricken by flooding.
The Tulsa Area Chapter of the American Red Cross has one volunteer in Iowa now doing mental health work. Two more flew out Friday morning to do damage assessment. Plus, two more local volunteers will head out on an emergency response vehicle.
The Muskogee Red Cross anticipates sending out another emergency response vehicle as soon as two other volunteers agree to drive it. They have also activated their automated phone tree to contact volunteers to determine their availability. The system automatically dials all phone numbers of qualified volunteers and asks them to call back if they are available.
