Greater Rayfield Baptist Church is building a 7,200 square-feet educational wing on the church at 601 Indianapolis St.
Dr. G. Calvin McCuthen Sr. was guest speaker at the Sunday ceremony. The full thrust of the construction will start in two weeks, said Pastor Rev. Leroy Walker Sr.
Most of the new space in the $600,000 project will go to classrooms, Walker said. Other rooms include a renovated kitchen, a pastor’s study and a conference room.
