DHS, Feed The Children to deliver food, care items

Feed The Children will deliver 19 tractor-trailers full of food and personal care items to 7,600 Oklahoma families from Wednesday to Friday.

The event was made possible by funds raised throughout the state by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services county offices and the County Administrators Association.

Each OKDHS county office collected monetary donations, held fund-raisers and emptied penny jars. Feed The Children is matching the number of truckloads each community and county has raised.

Gov. Brad Henry recently signed a proclamation designating Saturday as “OKDHS Make A Difference Day,” which coincides with the national “Make A Difference Day.” USA Weekend annually promotes the fourth Saturday in October as the “national day of doing good.”

The truck distributions will occur in Muskogee, Lawton, Norman, Altus, Mangum, Duncan, Elk City, Kingfisher, McAlester, Tonkawa, Ada, Okmulgee and Jay.

More truck distributions will occur in November.
