Oklahoma lawmakers passed several key child protection measures, including new defenses against online predators and a requirement that children wear protective helmets when riding ATVs, according to a study of the 2007 Legislative session.
In addition, new funding streams were created to generate resources for programs aimed at reducing child abuse and domestic violence, according to the Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy.
State Reps. Jerry McPeak, D-Warner; Ed Cannaday, D-Porum; Wade Rousselot, D-Okay; Mike Brown, D-Tahlequah; and Jerry Shoemake, D-Morris; supported at least 80 percent of the bills favored by advocates for children, youth and families.
