A 61-year-old Muskogee man pleaded no contest Wednesday to two felony charges stemming from his molestation of a 7-year-old girl.
Lonnie Wayne Stevens was ordered to serve the first 10 years of a 20-year sentence in prison for his convictions for lewd molestation and rape by instrumentation. Stevens, who will get credit for the year he has spent in jail since his arrest, also was ordered to comply with special rules for sex offenders.
Stevens originally was charged with four felonies, but the forcible sodomy and attempted first-degree rape charges were dismissed after evidence presented during his preliminary hearing fell short of what was needed to bind him over on those two charges.
Muskogee County Sheriff's Investigator Tim Brown said the initial incident reported occurred during the summer of 2005, but the girl confirmed during subsequent interviews the abuse had persisted since then.
