Teen to stay in jail on rape conviction
A 15-year-old Mississippi transplant convicted of rape and lewd molestation was ordered Tuesday to remain in the custody of the Office of Juvenile Affairs.
Jesse James Wade, who was living with relatives in Webbers Falls after his family was displaced from Mississippi in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, is serving two 10-year sentences. He was charged and convicted as a youthful offender.
Wade pleaded no contest March 2 to rape by instrumentation and lewd molestation. Investigators said Wade used his size — 6-foot-1, 230 pounds — to take advantage of his 8-year-old victim.
Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Gourd said Wade will appear Dec. 5 for a second review hearing.
