The United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians in Oklahoma, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma will have their first joint council meeting July 13.
To commemorate this event, an art contest seeks submissions of a logo representing the Joint Council Meeting and all three Cherokee bands. The theme of the contest is “Completing the Circle of Fire.” The winning artwork will become the official logo for future joint council meetings.
The winner will receive a $1,000 prize. The contest is open to enrolled members of one of the three Cherokee bands. The winner will be selected by a committee of representatives of the three Cherokee bands. The deadline for entries is April 13. A copy of tribal enrollment should be attached to the entry.
Entries can be delivered to the UKB Tribal Media Department at the UKB Tribal Administration building, at 2380 S. Muskogee Ave. in Tahlequah.
Information: Kim Drywater, (918) 431-1818.
