TAHLEQUAH — The United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians in Oklahoma swore in a new tribal judge at its February council meeting.
The council voted unanimously to approve Kimberly Anthony, attorney at law, to fill a vacant UKB District Court position. After the vote, Chief Justice Lynn Burris, UKB Supreme Court, officiated the oath of office to Anthony in front of the council and the public.
Anthony received a Bachelor of Arts from Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Va., in 2000 and a Juris Doctorate from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 2006.
She has primarily practiced law in areas such as Indian law, family law, probate law, adoption law and consumer advocacy law.
Anthony's judicial term runs until July 2015.
