The Oklahoma Highway Patrol Marine Division was searching a portion of Fort Gibson Lake in Mayes County for the body of a drowning victim, Trooper Betsy Randolph said Sunday evening.
The man, whose name, age and hometown have not yet been released, was hand-fishing in the Fun Island area of the lake Saturday. His family reported him missing about 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
Randolph said about 7:30 p.m. Sunday that four troopers were using side-scanner sonar to search for the man, troopers requested a flyover by a Highway Patrol plane, and a canine team from Texarkana was on its way to assist the search.
