An Indian Capital Technology Center student has been recognized with a “Breaking Traditions Student Achievement Award” from the Oklahoma Career Technical Education Equity Council.
Colby Holman of Okay, a Health Careers Certification student at ICTC, was nominated by his teacher Wren Stratton for his “exceptional determination to break tradition and succeed in a training program considered nontraditional for his gender,” according to a media release.
Holman plans to become a registered nurse with an advanced degree, such as a doctorate or practitioner’s license.
Holman will receive his award at the Grand Awards Session of the Health Occupations Students of America State Leadership Conference on April 12.
