Filings begin for school board seats

— Candidates for school board seats in 11 Muskogee County school districts began filing declarations of candidacy Monday. The filing period ends at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The positions will be filled in the annual school elections Feb. 12. If no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the total votes in this election, the two candidates with the most votes will meet in an election April 2.

Offices for which declarations of candidacy have been filed:    

• Muskogee District (I-20) — Office No. 3, five-year term. Keith D. Biglow.

• Braggs District (I-46) — Office No. 3, five-year term. Jeff Ward.

• Fort Gibson District (I-3) — Office No. 3, five-year term;  Gerald Taylor, Eric Tuck. Office No. 5, four-year unexpired term. Darren Kilpatrick.

• Haskell District (I-2) — Office No. 3, five-year term. Lewis Gonzales, Dewayne Brown.

• Hilldale District (I-29) — Office No. 3, five-year term.

• Oktaha District (I-8) — Office No. 3, five-year term. Jimmy Eller.

• Porum District (I-88) — Office No. 3, five-year term; Office No. 5, two-year unexpired term. Stuart Jack Morton.

• Wainwright District (C-9) — Office No. 3, five-year term.

• Warner District (I-74) — Office No. 3, five-year term. Dale Wiggins.

• Webbers Falls District (I-6) — Office No. 3, five-year term. Larry Stephens, Jr.

• Indian Capital Technology Center (VT-4) — Office No. 5, five-year term. Roger Sharp.
