Wagoner motorist killed in collision

— A Wagoner man died after a two-vehicle crash in Mayes County, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol release.

The release states James Butler died after the 2002 Hyundai Elantra he was driving was struck by a Dodge pickup driven by Jacob Lane about 10:26 a.m. Saturday.

Butler, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene after being pinned in his vehicle for about an hour.

The release states Lane, 18, was southbound on a county road just west of Chouteau when he failed to yield and struck Butler’s vehicle, which was eastbound on U.S. 412.

The release states airbags deployed in both vehicles, and that Butler was not wearing a seat belt.
