The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation will be conducting a pre-season Hunter Education course from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 22 in Tahlequah.
The course will be held at the Northeastern State University NET Building Auditorium and is free for youngsters and adults. No pre-registration is required, and students will be allowed one hour for lunch.
Topics to be covered include firearms safety, archery, Oklahoma laws and regulations, hunter responsibility and wildlife management. Students successfully completing the eight-hour course will receive their state certification cards, which is mandatory for most young hunters before hunting or purchasing a license.
