DA anticipates plea from Boynton mayor

Prosecutors expect Boynton Mayor Marie Wilson to enter a plea to misdemeanor embezzlement today and called off plans to charge her with a felony.

Wilson’s attorney was in trial in another jurisdiction Tuesday but will be with her in court here today, said Muskogee County District Attorney Larry Moore.

“We anticipate a plea,” he said.

Wilson is accused of using a Staples credit card belonging to the town to purchase a laptop computer she converted to personal use, the filings state.

Boynton Trustee Rose Walker was not tried Tuesday on a misdemeanor nepotism charge because a witness, Victoria Wilson, did not appear.

Wilson met with Moore later.

“She (Wilson) assured us she would testify, and Walker’s case is being set on the next jury docket (beginning in July),” Moore said.

Wilson is the mayor’s niece, according to court filings.

Walker is charged with nepotism for allegedly voting to appoint Wilson to be town clerk.
