Muskogee teen held in connection with rape of 12-year-old

Arrest followed search for girl; ‘she ran away with 17-year-old’

A 17-year-old Muskogee boy was arrested on rape complaints, said Muskogee County Sheriff Charles Pearson.

The arrest was the result of a six-day search for a missing Warner girl. The Warner girl, 12, lived with her grandparents and disappeared May 22, Pearson said.

“Basically, she ran away with a 17-year-old boy,” Pearson said.

The boy admitted to deputies when he was arrested Monday to having had sex with the girl.

“They’re both juveniles, but a 17-year-old and a 12-year-old is a big difference, to me,” Pearson said.

Pearson said the boy was arrested as a youthful offender on complaints of rape and intimidation of a witness.

The intimidation complaints stemmed from “threatening” messages the boy posted on his Facebook account toward the girl’s grandparents, Pearson said.

Sheriff’s deputies located the girl Monday in Muskogee at an address where Pearson said the boy lived.

“When she left home, she turned off her Facebook account,” Pearson said. “They were able to get that Facebook account turned back on and get some addresses off of it. One of the addresses they pulled off the account led us to the place she was found at.”

Pearson said the girl had been staying at the residence in Muskogee with the boy since disappearing Tuesday.

Pearson said he believed the girl was with the Department of Human Services on Tuesday while officials sorted out the situation.
