The first graduating class of Hilldale High School, the Class of 1982, plans a 30-year reunion during Hilldale’s homecoming weekend, Sept. 14 and 15.
A 10-person reunion committee has been working since October to put together two evening events for classmates, former faculty and friends of Hilldale’s Class of 1982.
“It is our intention to have something for everyone,” said Samuel Stiles, a reunion organizer. “We look forward to sharing old memories and making new ones.”
A tailgating event is planned Friday, Sept. 14, during the homecoming game at Hornet field, according to a media release. Hamburgers, chips and a drink will be sold for $5, and classmates, friends and former members of the class are invited. Admission to the game also is $5. A section of bleachers will be reserved for the Class of 1982. A meet-and-greet will begin at roughly 6:30 p.m. with the game starting at 7:30 p.m.
On Saturday, Sept. 15, a barbecue buffet is planned at Three Forks Harbor. A master of ceremonies will tell stories, but most of the night will be spent getting reacquainted. Cost, $35 per person, includes web access to photography from the festivities. Saturday’s dinner will be from 6 to 10 p.m.
Deceased members of the class will be honored at the Saturday evening event and their parents will be special guests of the Class of 1982.
Reunion organizers are working on a keepsake book with stories and photos of each member of the class. Classmates are encouraged to return questionnaires, along with photos, to hilldalealumni@gmail.com or mail to HHS Alumni Association, P.O. Box 2642, Muskogee, OK 74402. Classmates and faculty can make contact on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/hilldale1982.
Hilldale’s first graduating class had 64 members. That’s why it is important to participate, Stiles said.
“We are in the process of putting together committees to help with reunion activities. If you can help in any way, please contact us through e-mail or Facebook,” Stiles said.
