A reception marking the Severs centennial set for tonight figures to draw a crowd.
Francie Fite, Downtown Muskogee Inc.’s Jonita Mullins and Barbara McAlister brainstormed the script for the show, which will feature some of the building’s more famous guests from throughout history.
“Basically, Barbara always gets these great ideas,” Fite said. “She had a booklet about the Severs called ‘Return to Glory - Captain Severs and his hotel.’ She was reading that and realized this was the 100-year anniversary.”
Fite said she and her husband, Max, had previously written a narrative for a play in Tahlequah, so McAlister asked them to write one for the Severs centennial.
Fite said they began meeting and talking about the narration in March, and the script was finished in August and sent to the actors.
The show begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Severs Building Lobby at 215 State St.
