Robotics competition scheduled Saturday

— TAHLEQUAH — Hundreds of students will test their wits and robotic design during Saturday’s Oklahoma VEX Robotics Regional competition hosted by the Cherokee Nation, a media release states.

The event takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. The elimination tournament and awards will be from 5 to 7 p.m. The event will be at Sequoyah Schools gym, 17091 S. Muskogee Ave. in Tahlequah.

About 40 student teams from at least 10 Oklahoma schools will launch their homemade robots for durability and function to win a chance to qualify for the national or VEX Robotics World Championship.

During the competition, teams work in alliances of two to snag the highest score by making sacks and bonus sacks against other team robots, while also completing other obstacles. Information: (918) 316-1370 or colec@nsuok.edu.
