Porum schools cancel classes

Porum schools will not have class today because of a high percentage of flu cases, said High School Principal Brent Pearce.

All school activities, including tonight’s home basketball game against Porter, also have been canceled, and an elementary trip to an area basketball tournament also will not be taken, Pearce said.

More than 80 students were absent because of the flu by noon Thursday. That makes up nearly 18 percent of the student body.

School also will be out Monday because of the Martin Luther King holiday. Teachers will report for professional development Monday.

Classes will resume Tuesday.
