Ralph Jones, the superintendent of Honey Springs Battlefield, will be talking about the Honey Springs battle and how important the battle is to this area.
The program is scheduled for March 17 at the Warner Public Library. A free lunch at 11:30 will be served, and the program will begin at noon.
Jones is a native Oklahoman and has served as museum director of the 45th Infantry museum in Oklahoma City. He was with the Oklahoma Historical Society for more than 13 years and has served as the superintendent of Honey Springs since 1998. He is writing a book about the Civil War. Jones oversees the Honey Springs Battlefield and museum as well as the responsibility of the re-enactment of the Honey Springs battle that brings thousands to the area every three years. Jones will be retiring soon.
