Ex-coach’s wife ID’d in obscene pics

Two school officials Thursday identified former Midway principal and coach Curt Been’s wife in obscene pictures found on his school computer.

Midway Superintendent Don Ford and Principal Dusty Walden identified Kristy Been, wife of Curt Been.

The testimony came in the preliminary hearing of Curt Been, charged in September 2007 with multiple sex-related felony counts, most of which involved two female students.

Defense attorney Chad Richardson said after Thursday’s hearing that a U.S. Supreme Court justice said the definition of pornography is something he can’t define but knows when he sees it.

The community gets to decide what pornography is, Richardson said.

“I don’t think a woman holding her bare breasts or breast enhancement pictures are pornographic, Richardson said.

He also questioned a 2008 homecoming picture being among the hundreds of pictures entered into evidence when Curt Been wasn’t at the school at that time. Richardson said that shows someone had access to the computer after Been.

Other pictures in evidence of men having sex with men and women having sex with women and men and women having sex together were not identified.

“There wasn’t anything new today,” Richardson said.

Danny Mouttet, an Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation certified forensic computer specialist, testified in February how he retrieved the evidence off the computer’s hard drive.

Mouttet was not able to be in Thursday’s hearing in Muskogee to testify the images were on deleted files.

The hearing is to resume at 9 a.m. April 16 in Muskogee County District Court, said Muskogee County Assistant District Attorney Nikki Baker.
