Oklahoma Scenic Rivers Commission (OSRC) will host OSRC Water Evening at 6:30 p.m. Monday for any individuals who want to learn more about water science and quality related to the Illinois River Basin.
The event will be in the Tahlequah Armory Municipal Center, 100 North Water Street. (The center is on the northeast corner of the old Cherokee Capitol Square in downtown Tahlequah).
Speakers include Kim Winton, chief of U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)-Oklahoma District; David Mueller, USGS-Regional Office-Denver; and Miguel Flores, deputy director of Water Quality, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency-Region VI-Dallas.
Topics will include the need for water quality monitoring; findings of a USGS-OSRC water quality monitoring report targeted to stakeholders; and the upcoming development of Illinois River Basin "Total Maximum Daily Loads" process.
