Members of Okay High School’s FCCLA won several events in the 2012 Northeast-Two District STAR events.
STAR means Students Taking Action with Recognition.
Seniors Bristen Graves and Alyssa Moore, and Junior Matthew Coughran took first in Senior Life Planning.
Sophomores Destrie Lawrence, Kayla Walker, and Mariah Whiteday took first in Senior Illustrated Talk.
Eighth-graders Blake Judkins and Courtnie Reynolds took first in Junior Life Planning.
Eighth-graders Alexandria White, Keyaira Clark, and Alyssa Lapham took first in Junior Illustrated Talk.
Kaden McMahan earned a Silver ranking in Junior Creed Speaking.
The first place Okay students will advance on to the Regional competition, Feb. 5.
“Throughout the year, FCCLA members tackle issues such as teen violence prevention, traffic safety, family issues, career exploration and much more,” said Kathy Dunham, Okay FCCLA adviser. “FCCLA programs enrich student learning, improve self-esteem, and serve students with a range of ability levels, economic situations, and cultural influences.”
