The Greater Muskogee Manufacturers Alliance recently announced its second anniversary.
According to a media release, with more than 90 members from 33 local manufacturers, GMMA’s mission is to create a unified voice for the local manufacturing sector to address current issues and prepare for future issues.
Shawn Kirk, plant manager of Boral Bricks, was elected to serve a two-year term as chair of GMMA. Dan Morris, president/CEO of Advantage Controls, accepted the position of vice-chair, also a two-year term.
“GMMA offers our local manufacturers a tremendous opportunity to meet and learn from each other,” Morris said in the release. “Members include many of the world's leading manufacturers. When they come together, it creates invaluable opportunities to share best practices and discuss new ideas.”
GMMA members range from small, privately-held manufacturers with as few as 15 employees to large, publicly-traded international manufacturers with more than 500 employees, including Muskogee's largest manufacturing employers, Georgia-Pacific and Dal-Tile, who together employ approximately 1,800 local workers.
Manufacturers within 30 miles of Muskogee unfamiliar with GMMA are encouraged to contact Muskogee Development for information on how to get involved.
