At its regular meeting Tuesday, the Muskogee Public Works and Finance Committees:
• Approved acceptance of Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality permit for the construction of 6,300 linear feet of 42-inch PVC sanitary sewer line, 1,200 linear feet of 36- inch PVC sanitary sewer line and all appurtenances to serve the city of Muskogee Coody Creek interceptor improvements Phase III.
• Approved a resolution requesting Oklahoma Municipal League to support legislation that would allow municipalities as small as 35,000 people to conduct separate law enforcement training academies.
• Extended the agreement with Lisa Raasch to serve as Community Wellness Program coordinator for the City of Muskogee Wellness Initiative Coalition.
• Approved of an ordinance amending the City of Muskogee Code of Ordinances — concerning smoking in public places, and possession of lighted tobacco on certain places — to reflect state statutes and to add tobacco prohibition in city parks.
• Approved the best and lowest bid for the following pollution control chemicals: Liquid polymer, sodium bisulfite, liquid ferrous chloride, anti-foam, liquid ferric chloride, soda ash, sodium bicarbonate, and calcium hypochlorite.
• Received donated funds for June 2011 for the city's animal shelter sponsorship program.
• Approved an ordinance repealing Section 14-131, dog license fee, registration and tag ordinances. Dog owners still are required to show rabies vaccination and are not allowed to have their dogs run at large.
• Agreed to enter into an agreement with Suddenlink Communications to provide network connectivity for all city facilities, replacing the existing high-frequency radio network at a rate of $5,749.25 per month.
• Entered into an agreement with Suddenlink Communications to provide Internet services to the city of Muskogee for $700 per month.
