Tahlequah woman indicted by grand jury



A Tahlequah woman was indicted by a federal grand jury in Muskogee, according to a media release from U.S. Attorney Sheldon J. Sperling on Friday.

Gloria Ann Case, 48, was indicted on a complaint of embezzlement and theft from an Indian tribal organization.

The Indictment alleges that beginning in about March 2005 and continuing until about May 2008, while an employee of the Cherokee Nation, Case embezzled more than $1,000 belonging to the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma. The charges arose from an investigation by the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service.

If convicted Case could face up to five years in prison and/or up to $250,000 in fines, the release states.
