Two Muskogee men wanted in connection with an earlier shooting are in jail on a weapons complaint.
Dionetta Triggs and Ira Owens were arrested during a traffic stop Thursday on 21st and Emporia Streets, Muskogee Police Lt. Bobby Lee said.
Triggs, 18, and Owens, 19, had been wanted in connection with a Tuesday evening shooting at 13th and Fremont streets. Lee said witnesses to that shooting told police the suspects came to the house in a vehicle, and one exited and began firing several shots.
The two are held at the Muskogee County/City Detention Facility on $50,000 bond each on a complaint of use of a vehicle to facilitate weapons discharge.
No one was struck by the bullets fired Tuesday, but a vehicle was damaged, Lee said. Police recovered shell casings consistent with what witnesses described as a handgun the shooter was firing.
Lee said police believe the shooting had to do with a dispute between parties that had gone on for more than two months, but said investigators are looking into the specifics of the disagreement.
Police also are looking into whether more people could have been involved in the shooting.
Triggs is awaiting a hearing on a shooting from earlier this year. He was arrested along with two others for allegedly shooting Tracy Ledon Guess Jr., 21, in the back of the head June 16 at an address on North 13th Street.
Triggs, Calvin Lewis Jr., 26, and Robert Shine 21, were jailed in connection to that shooting. Guess was hospitalized and released.
Triggs was charged with:
• Assault and battery with a deadly weapon;
• Assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; and
• Possession of firearm after delinquent adjudication.
Online court record show Triggs is set to return to court Dec. 3 for a preliminary hearing from the June shooting to determine whether he’ll be bound over for trial.
Lee said Tuesday’s shooting was not related to the Guess shooting.
