A Tahlequah man accused of trying to meet whom he thought was a 13-year-old girl to engage in sexual activities was charged Friday in Cherokee County District Court.
Donald Lee Paden, 23, is with lewd acts/indecent proposal to a child and soliciting sexual conduct or communication with a minor by use of technology, according to court documents.
Paden is in the Cherokee County Detention Center on $40,000 bond. He returns to court for a felony sounding docket at 9 a.m. Jan. 7, when a date will be set for a preliminary hearing.
Court documents state Paden used his cell phone to communicate over a social networking website with an individual whom “the defendant believed to be a 13-year-old girl” to facilitate a meeting for the purpose of engaging in sexual conduct with the “girl” between Aug. 25 and Nov. 1.
Paden faces three to 20 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000 if convicted of both counts.
