Descendants of Freedmen of the Five Civilized Tribes Association and their supporters will have a freedmen history program at 1 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Martin Luther King Center, 627 N. Third St.
The public is welcome. Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish to share before the program.
The program will present the history and experiences of families of black tribal freedmen who fought against racism and injustice in fighting enslavement, achieving tribal enrollment, and receiving full economic rights as legal tribal members.
