A free two-day dental clinic will be start at 5 a.m. Friday and Saturday at the Southeast EXPO Center, three miles west of McAlester and one mile east of the Indian Nation Turnpike on Oklahoma 270.
The Oklahoma Mission of Mercy (OkMOM) dental clinic is open to people of all ages.
It is designed for people who would not otherwise not be able to seek dental care.
• Treatment could include: Restorations (fillings), extractions, cleanings and root canals (anterior only).
• The first 1,000 people each day qualify. No more than 1,000 patients can be taken each day.
• There is no pre-registration, no prequalification, no payment or insurance required.
• All ages will be seen. We may be limited to the services offered if they are age-restrictive (dentures will not be offered).
• A parent or guardian must stay with any child under 18 throughout treatment.
• Things that could prevent you from being treated include: Fever at the time of treatment, uncontrollable, abnormally high blood pressure or excessive bleeding in the past.
• The doors will open at 5 a.m. People are expected to line up earlier. Keep the following in mind:
• Patients will not be allowed in the building before 5 a.m. No exceptions will be made.
• If you decide to stand in line, it will be very cold outside, so dress appropriately.
• Collapsible chairs, blankets and sleeping bags will be allowed. However, you may not have a chance to return them to your car and will need to carry them with you.
• Tents will not be allowed.
• Security and restrooms/ portable toilets will be available.
• This is a free event. The organization will not file insurance or charging patients.
• Breakfast and lunch will be served to patients waiting on treatment. Food and drinks will not be allowed on the clinic floor.
• Translators (Spanish and Vietnamese) and signers for the hearing impaired will be available at OkMOM.
• Recommended items to bring: List of current medications, one day supply of medications, baby supplies.
