BRB Roofing and Manufacturing has moved from Fort Gibson to a property in Muskogee nearly twice as big.
The company, known for its metal roofing systems and steel rail fences, will open Monday at 3143 N. 32nd St. Hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
BRB President Doss Briggs said the move helps the company expand, potentially hiring more people. The company employs 80 people and expects to add more after it moves in.
“Our fencing division is growing, and in two or three months, we expect to add two to 10 jobs,” Briggs said.
The new facility offers 40,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space and 7,500 square feet of office space, Briggs said. The former location, 101 S. Two Mile Road, had 20,000 square feet for manufacturing and 5,000 square feet for office, he said.
“We didn’t want to leave Fort Gibson, but we were not able to grow in our current facility, Briggs said. “We expect our fencing products to take off in the next few years.”
A media release from Greater Muskogee Development Corp., said the company is developing a new line of Thunder Canyon Fence products. One line, Big Sky Classic Rail is a low-maintenance, pre-painted steel rail and fence system.
The release said BRB expects sales of the fence products to reach between $5 million and $6 million.
BRB was founded in 1975 by Benny Briggs.
Doss Briggs said the Muskogee move also brings BRB closer to markets in Tulsa and Wagoner and puts it on the heavily-traveled U.S. 69.
The new facility north of Muskogee used to be a Chevrolet dealership. Doss Briggs said the building was gutted in 2007.
“We’re making everything green, with our insulation, using windows with low-E glass,” he said.
Low-E glass is known for the efficient way it absorbs, reflects and emits solar heat.
Muskogee Development Executive Director Leisha Haworth said the move is “good news for Muskogee.”
“Retaining and expanding our existing business is essential to economic growth,” Haworth said. “This is good news and will keep BRB’s expanding workforce in Oklahoma.”
Fort Gibson Chamber of Commerce Director Gary Perkins said BRB owners brought a new business to Fort Gibson as they were moving the roofing company.
“They’re bringing an RV park and storage facility, something we sorely need in Fort Gibson,” Perkins said, adding that he expects the Briggs to continue to support the community as chamber members.
